Since 1984, the American Healthcare Resources (AHR) staff has been placing medical professionals on a national level. Because we take the time to understand your needs, we can ensure that we have the options that you are looking for options that include locum tenens, retained and contingency placement.
Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, we are one of the largest staffing firms in the southeast and one of the only firms specializing in healthcare staffing. We leverage our relationships to place more specialized physicians, mid-levels, nurses, and allied health professionals into your facilities. We respect your level of expected service and will only present healthcare professionals that meet the highest of standards.
1. Locum Tenens Services
Locum Tenens is defined as a medical practitioner who temporarily takes the place of another. There are a variety of reasons that hospitals and physician groups utilize locum tenens physicians. In many specialties, it is due to a shortage of physicians available to handle the workload, issues with emergency call coverage or to fill a gap while a permanent physician is recruited. In other specialties, such as Anesthesiology, Hospitalist or Pulmonary Critical Care, the need may be due to seasonal changes in patient volume that coincide with the facility’s caseload or inpatient census.
2. Retained Placement Services
Working on a retained basis means that AHR will charge an upfront fee to the client to conduct a search. We will operate on an exclusive basis meaning the job will only be filled through AHR. Our recruiters work very closely with your facility and will take our time and use an agreed methodology to find the best physician for the job. The process is usually rigorous with a shortlist of anything from three to ten names being presented before interviews commence.
3. Contingency Placement/ Direct Hire Services
AHR takes on the risk and expense of developing relationships with a high volume of candidates. When conducting searches on a contingency basis, AHR will not work exclusively with your company. You will not be charged a placement fee until we have identified and placed the physician with your facility.
